10 Movie Reviews Better Than The Movie Itself
3. Cool Cat Saves The Kids - IHE
I Hate Everything's review of Cool Cat Saves The Kids accomplished many things. It created a meme, collected a series of copyright strikes, and even led to a threatened lawsuit by Derek Savage, the creator of the movie. The controversy eventually quieted down, Derek Savage went away, and the Cool Cat meme only grew stronger.
When you see even a single frame of Cool Cat, every bit of the joyful ribbing done across the internet feels wholly justified. Similarly to that FanBoyFlicks entry, the clear sense of emotional drainage in IHE's voiceover immediately leaves an impression.
There's just some kind of relatability to it where you feel like your friend just went through something traumatic and you're listening to them vent with a great sense of empathy. The mix of insanity and utter confusion that CC inspires pairs perfectly with IHE's perfectly-suited straight man routine.
While Cool Cat and creator Derek Savage will surely emerge in the future, this video will always be a classic. It'll be a throwback to a simpler time when everyone on YouTube could collectively watch a video involving a man in a bright-orange catsuit oppose child bullies and say "....WTF did I just watch?"
