Jessica Alba had a rough enough experience on superhero sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer that she nearly ended up quitting acting altogether.

While performing an emotional scene as Sue Storm aka The Invisible Woman, she claims that director Tim Story told her to "be prettier" when she cries, that her crying looked "too real" and "too painful," to make her face "flat" so they could CGI the tears in later.

Alba was deeply affected by this experience, saying of it to The Huffington Post:

"It all got me thinking: Am I not good enough? Are my instincts and my emotions not good enough? Do people hate them so much that they don't want me to be a person? Am I not allowed to be a person in my work? And so I just said, ‘F**k it. I don’t care about this business anymore.'"

Alba did persevere and continue to act, however, even if playing Sue Storm the second time around was clearly a major creative and personal nadir for her.
