10 Movie Roles That Pissed Actors Off
4. Meryl Streep - Miranda Priestley (The Devil Wears Prada)
One of the easy highlights of The Devil Wears Prada is Meryl Streep's deliciously prickly, acid-tongued performance as fierce fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestly - a role which ultimately nabbed Streep a Best Actress Oscar nomination.
And yet, despite Streep being a three-decade acting veteran at this point, the part proved unexpectedly challenging because she decided to try out method acting for the first time.
Steep stayed in character between takes and didn't socialise with the rest of the cast and crew, even once shooting was finished.
Streep said in a 2021 interview with Entertainment Weekly that she was "so depressed" being sat in her trailer and hearing the rest of the cast and crew "rocking and laughing," calling the experience "horrible."
Her co-star Emily Blunt added that method acting made Streep "miserable," and the overall experience caused Streep to never again attempt method acting.
After all, The Devil Wears Prada marked Streep's 14th Oscar nomination, so she clearly didn't need The Method.
