10 Movie Roles That Pissed Actors Off

3. Burt Reynolds - Jack Horner (Boogie Nights)

One of the trickier roles to cast in Paul Thomas Anderson's Boogie Nights was that of pornographer Jack Horner, as eventually went to Burt Reynolds.

However, Reynolds didn't get along with Anderson during shooting, and in words from Reynolds' own 2015 memoir, he "wasn’t crazy about being [directed] by a guy who’s younger than some sandwiches I've had."

During a more recent appearance on Conan, Reynolds also admitted that he had a desire to "hit" Anderson during production and never actually watched the film.

After shooting was completed, Reynolds apparently fired his agent for recommending the project to him.

In a somewhat hilarious twist, though, Reynolds ended up winning a Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe for his performance while also receiving his first and ultimately only Oscar nomination in the same category.

Much as Reynolds hated the role and seemingly the movie as a whole, it remains his single most celebrated performance - a fact which probably only pissed him off even more.
