It's no secret that Robert Downey Jr. is good pals with filmmaker Shane Black, having starred in two of his movies - Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Iron Man III.

But what is a bit of a secret is Downey's surprise appearance in Black's subsequent neo-noir comedy The Nice Guys.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe star makes an uncredited cameo roughly 44 minutes into the film, when Holland March (Ryan Gosling) stumbles upon the corpse of Sid Shattuck at a party.

Downey plays the aforementioned dead body, though his distinctive facial features are somewhat concealed underneath a grisly gunshot wound and glue-on beard. The scene taking place at night in low lighting also helps.

It's devilishly funny that Downey of all people, an actor known for excelling at playing quippy, fast-talking characters, showed up in another Shane Black movie in a role where he literally couldn't speak a single line of dialogue.

That the cameo happened during the busiest period of his MCU tenure made it even more unexpected.
