10 Movie Scenes Changed After The Actor Died

9. The Oracle "Sheds Her Shell" After Gloria Foster's Death - The Matrix Revolutions

In the first two Matrix movies, the role of The Oracle was played by Gloria Foster, who sadly passed away shortly after shooting her scenes for the second film, The Matrix Reloaded.

With the Oracle already written to have a sizable role in The Matrix Revolutions, the Wachowskis were forced to pivot, yet given the fantastical nature of the series, they also had enough runway to come up with a persuasive explanation for the Oracle's new appearance.

In Revolutions, the character was now portrayed by Mary Alice, and in the canon video game Enter the Matrix - which was released between Reloaded and Revolutions - it was revealed that her original "shell" was destroyed by the Merovingian (Lambert Wilson), forcing her to claim a new one.

Ultimately the change in appearance seemed believable enough given that the Oracle was being hunted by the Merovingian in Revolutions, while it's assumed that the rest of her role was the same as written prior to Foster's passing.
