10 Movie Scenes Everyone Gets Wrong

7. The Joker Is Lying About Never Making Plans - The Dark Knight

After Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) is horribly burned by The Joker (Heath Ledger) and ends up in Gotham General Hospital, he's paid a visit by the Clown Prince of Crime himself, who is unforgettably disguised as a red-haired nurse.

The Joker tries to persuade Dent that he had nothing to do with him or Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal) being kidnapped, but Dent tells him, "Your men, your plan," to which The Joker replies, "Do I really look like a guy with a plan?"

The Joker goes on to compare himself to "a dog chasing cars," prompting many fans to point out the absurdity of the supervillain claiming he doesn't make plans when, clearly, everything he does throughout the movie is planned down to the very last variable.

This is to fundamentally misread this scene, though: The Joker knows he's a guy with a plan, but he's saying what he needs to say in order to push Dent over the edge, cementing his transformation into the corrupted, vengeful Two Face.

Even the mere act of framing himself as an "agent of chaos" to Dent is itself simply another part of The Joker's mind-meltingly elaborate plot to terrorise Gotham.
