10 Movie Scenes That Fans Tried To "Fix"

10. Superman's First Flight Gets More Colour - Man Of Steel

The Edit

One of the most common complaints about Zack Snyder's Man of Steel is that, even accepting its more grim and downcast tone, the film's colour palette was too washed-out and drained of colour for a project focused on one of the most distinctly colourful superheroes of all time.

Superman's (Henry Cavill) iconic red-and-blue attire appeared uncharacteristically muted in the film in order to accentuate Snyder's more "realistic" aesthetic, though many fans expressed disappointment at how utterly unremarkable and even un-heroic it also made him look.

And so, numerous budding video editors have made attempts to adjust the movie's colour timing, to enhance the crisp red of Supes' cape and basically raise the brightness of the general picture several steps.

And clearly, there was no better scene to experiment with than the pivotal sequence where Clark flies for the first time.

Did It Work?

Pretty much. The editor is of course working within the limitations of the home video release, so there are moments where the image appears over-saturated, but these fairly basic colour tweaks largely make the scene feel so much more full of life.

Whether this more vibrant aesthetic fits the tone of Snyder's story, and whether it'd be appropriate to actually re-colour the entire movie, however, is an altogether different conversation.

As an exercise in placating fans who loved Snyder's imagery but loathed his colour grade, though, it's a solidly successful effort.
