10 Movie Sequel Recastings That Were TERRIBLE
7. Emilia Clarke - Sarah Connor (Terminator Genisys)
When Terminator Genisys was released to a critical and commercial panning, Emilia Clarke was actually relieved, claiming that "no one had a good time" whilst making it.
Helmed by veteran TV director Alan Taylor, the unnecessary sci-fi sequel was made as an attempt to rejuvenate the franchise after the lacklustre Terminator Salvation. In order to pull this off, Taylor brought in Clarke (who he'd worked with on Game of Thrones) to fill the shoes of Linda Hamilton's badass lead Sarah Connor.
Though Hamilton did a fantastic job of portraying Connor's development from fish-out-of-water victim of a deadly killing machine to an all-round action hero, Clarke's performance lacks any attempt to recapture the energy she brought to the role.
Ultimately a dull and resigned portrayal, Connor is almost unrecognisable compared to the Connor found in the franchise's first two instalments.
Like several people on this list, Clarke can't be blamed entirely for her shortcomings - the film's writing, incoherent plot, derivative plot twists and forced fan service ruined it from scene one - but she also didn't do much to make her casting payoff, either.
