10 Movie Sequel Recastings That Were TERRIBLE

2. Basically Everyone (Home Alone 4: Taking Back The House)

Terrible Movie Recastings

Whilst Home Alone 3 focussed on a whole new host of characters, the hilariously titled Home Alone 4: Taking Back the House decided to bring back Kevin McAllister to the fold, only with child actor Mike Weinberg in the role instead of the then-too-old Macaulay Culkin.

The results are dire, with the film - and Weinberg's performance - coming off like nothing more than a tired re-tread of the first, all-time classic movie.

But Weinberg isn't the only issue, since every single returning character has a different actor portraying them. Marv, originally played by a scene-stealing Daniel Stern, is portrayed by French Stewart, whilst Marv's partner-in-crime Harry is nowhere to be seen. Even Kevin's parents - originally played by John Heard and Catherine O'Hara - have been replaced, and his siblings, save two, are completely left out of the action.

The results of this cast switch-up are appalling. None of the characters are written or portrayed the same way they were in the first two movies, and the fact that they're supposed to be the same characters makes the whole film feel like nothing more than a desperate cash-grab.
