The Scene

In one of the boldest and most confident statements of intent, there's a title card at the end of The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension announcing a sequel called Buckaroo Banzai vs. the World Crime League.

What It Teased

Well, that film, obviously. Allegedly, the sequel would have focused on the League and its leader, Hanoi Xan.

But...

The film might now be a cult classic, but it made no money when it was first released and there was no way we were going to get a sequel, no matter how confident the film-makers were when they piut that title card in. Everyone loves a tryer though...
