10 Movie Sequels Made Bad Through The Hero's Kid

3. Jack McClane - A Good Day To Die Hard

A Good Day to Die Hard John McClane's children were present in the Die Hard franchise from the first instalment. In the first movie, they were briefly seen waiting at the McClane/Gennaro household while hell broke lose in Nakatomi plaza, and in the two films that followed they were mentioned here and there to raise the stakes for good old Bruce. But they were always a distant and innocent presence that contrasted with McClane's complicated and dangerous lifestyle. The prominence of John's daughter, Lucy, in Die Hard 4.0 and, particularly, his bloated son in the lame and far-fetched A Good Day To Die Hard, make the latest two Die Hard offerings considerably weaker than the original trilogy. Jack McClane (an out-of-the-blue CIA agent) makes the lousiest John McClane sidekick of the saga. Jai Courtney, the actor who embodies him, falls short of the charisma of Bruce Willis and his previous counterparts like Reginal VelJohnson (the great Sgt. Al Powell!), Samuel L. Jackson and even Justin Long. The weak script does little to encourage good chemistry between father and son.
