10 Movie Sequels Nobody Asked For

8. The Scorpion King 2: Rise Of A Warrior

81 This film is a prequel to a prequel of a sequel of a remake...? Even I'm confused by this one. Starring an even worse actor than Dwayne Johnson (Michael Copon) this film deals with the rise of Mathayus as a young man. Unlike the previous films in this list, this is a direct sequel featuring the same character (although played by a different actor... of a different ethnicity) and as a result it's not quite as bad as the previous films. It's still bad though, very very bad. It was filmed in Cape Town, South Africa, which you might know looks nothing like Ancient Egypt, and in many scenes this is quite obvious - in one scene you can even see a television aerial in a wide shot. It's directed by Russell Mulcahy, who shockingly also directed some brilliant films like Highlander and Ricochet. In this film, his direction is probably the only saving grace of the hit-and-miss script, and his cinematic eye kind of makes up for the very bad acting, sets and script, but a cinematic eye can only go so far. Everyone wanted to really like this film, especially after the laugh-fest of the first one. And while the first one is a laugh-fest, it's still entertaining. This is so mind-numblingly simple and over-plotted that you can't even watch it for a giggle.
