Andrew Niccol's 2005 crime drama Lord of War is a terrifically entertaining piece of work, enlivened by riveting performances from Nicolas Cage and Jared Leto. Yet the film, revolving around Cage's international arms dealer Yuri Orlov, didn't necessarily beg for a sequel, despite Cage and others associated with the production talking up a second movie throughout the years.
However, it was confirmed in May that Lords of War is indeed happening - a sequel which will bring Cage back in the role of Yuri, while Bill Skarsgård will co-star as his son, Anton, who wishes to surpass his father, and Andrew Niccol will return as writer-director.
Last December, it was additionally revealed that the film will begin shooting in Morocco in March, likely leading to a 2025 release. Given Nicolas Cage's major career resurgence in recent years, this looks like it could add yet another compelling left-field project to his massive body of work.
