10 Movie Sequels That Lost The Main Characters

1. Hellboy 2: The Golden Army

Who Disappeared? John Myers (Rupert Evans)

In the original Hellboy, Agent John Myers is basically the audience's representative in the strange new world of monsters and mysteries uncovered by the revelation of the BPRD. His dynamic with Hellboy was also delightfully rewarding as the pair clashed over fellow agent Liz Sherman (Selma Blair).

However, when the sequel (which was initially intended to be the middle film in a trilogy) was announced, Rupert Evans wasn't included and Agent John Myers was no more.

Why He Didn't Return

Unfortunately for fans of the character, Evans couldn't return because he'd been cast in a stage version of "Kiss of the Spider Woman" in London in 2007 and had to be written out of the sequel entirely.
