10 Movie Sequels That Were 30 Years In The Making

6. The Odd Couple II (1998)

Odd Couple 2
Paramount Pictures

Time Between: 29 years, 343 days

Normally with sequels that take this long to come to fruition, at least one of the main cast has fallen away in some way. The Odd Couple II, released almost three decades after the original is impressive in that respect because all of the leads return.

Reuniting Jack Lemmon as Felix Ungar and Walter Matthau as Oscar Madison it sought to recapture their own cinematic magic together long after Hollywood had stopped making this kind of film.

Was It Worth The Wait?

Unfortunately, all this sequel does is add an unfortunate black mark to the late careers of Lemmon and Matthau, who are both infinitely better than the material. It's dull and unfunny and never once justifies its own existence.
