For a good while there, Disney saw way too much merit in churning out sequels under the secondary studio imprint of DisneyToon Studios. Some were okay, but the majority weren't fit to carry the Disney name nor to continue the legacy of the films they sought to over-extend.

In that context, the release of a belated Jungle Book sequel wasn't exactly well-heralded. Oddly, it didn't even seek to use Rudyard Kipling's The Second Jungle Book as its source material.

Was It Worth The Wait?

It's only really for Disney completists. It does have some good vocal talent behind it thanks to Haley Joel Osment, John Goodman, Mae Whitman and Phil Collins, but the animation is what you'd expect of a cynical straight-to-DVD cash-in sequel (even though it was released to cinemas). The plot is so similar to the original that you might as well just go back and watch that again.
