9. Serenity 2

The whole Firefly/Serenity story is arguably more compelling because it was so under-appreciated and cut off in its prime. This was, after all, one of the greatest sci-fi series of all time with a wonderful cast and spirit and it was unceremoniously cancelled before it ever had a chance to live.

Then came a movie that almost exactly mirrored the fortunes of the show. Fans loved it, but nobody else saw it and the box office returns were less than inspiring. Any hope for a sequel, which was in the works at one point, faded fast and despite lots of rumours, a revival has never kicked off.

With Whedon now free from his hectic comic book movie schedule, now is the time. If Netflix can make El Camino and we can have a belated Deadwood movie to tie up that story, surely a streaming service can bank on Firefly's cult appeal to make a sequel? The characters deserve it and so do we as fans.
