10 Movie Sequels With The Most Shocking Drops In Quality

9. Thor: Love And Thunder

Bouncing back from the dull and drab Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok was a total breath of fresh air as Taika Waititi brought a renewed sense of energy and excitement to the God of Thunder and his world. Ragnarok had a unique vibrancy to it but still managed to bring plenty of emotion, not to mention had Cate Blanchett on delightfully devilish form as Thor's villainous sister Hela.

So, hope was extremely high when Waititi was confirmed to return to helm Thor: Love and Thunder. Despite that hope, though, the end result was one of the most disappointing movies in the MCU.

Given how two key elements of Love and Thunder are the heavy topics of a Jane Foster dealing with a terminal cancer diagnosis, and a father - Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher - grieving the loss of his young daughter, it's frankly amazing how immediately forgettable this fourth Thor movie is.

While, yes, Thor: Ragnarok featured plenty of Waititi's particular brand of quirky humour, Thor: Love and Thunder leaned way too much into that humour, delivering a film where nothing felt of genuine consequence, even though there are those aforementioned elements that should be massively impactful.
