10 Movie Sequels You Didn't Know Were Coming In 2018

2. The Strangers 2

The Strangers is one of the better home-invasion-slasher movies to release in recent memory, with a brisk runtime and focus on building tension - not spraying blood - that helped contain the suspense like a loaded gun, before it fired in the final few minutes.

Still, the original told a self-contained story that didn't feel like it needed a sequel, and it wasn't massively popular, making The Strangers 2 feel like a cheap cash-grab that's only being used to capitalize on a mildly popular IP.

This aside, the sequel is moving full steam ahead, having cast Christina Hendricks, Bailee Madison and Lewis Pullman, and it began filming this past May.

The Strangers 2 will find the aforementioned three actors as members of a family who are terrorized by masked killers at an abandoned trailer park. Johannes Roberts (who directed 47 Meters Down) is helming the project, and the original film's director co-wrote the script.

If the sequel retains the same type of tight, nail-biting scenarios that the first film pulled off on numerous occasions, then this should be another winner, but it's hard to say if yet another 'masked killers chasing innocent family' movie can possibly feel fresh, having been done so many times.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
