10 Movie Sequels You Didn't Know Were Coming In 2018

1. The Equalizer 2

The Equalizer was one of the more successful attempts at placing a veteran actor in a 'one man versus the world' action-hero role.

However, "successful" is relative. The Equalizer made $192 million worldwide, which, to most superhero blockbusters, is an opening weekend kind of number; the Denzel Washington-starrer was a modest hit, and is never really referenced in popular culture the same way Liam Neeson's Taken is, making The Equalizer 2 not at all necessary, but welcome all the same.

Little is known about the plot, but expect Denzel to not crack a single smile while murdering dozens and dozens of faceless goons and causing a ton of property damage in the process.

The Equalizer was great fun to watch, and that's all it needed to be - we don't need a deep story or thought-provoking themes in this franchise. If the filmmakers can deliver another enjoyable, badass action flick in the vein of Taken, Die Hard and Bourne, then The Equalizer 2 can be considered a success, just like the first.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
