10 Movie Sequels You Probably Never Knew Existed

9. American Psycho II: All-American Girl

Kindergarten Cop 2
Lions Gate

This is one of those direct-to-DVD sequels that some of us may have heard of, but comparatively few have actually seen. It's earned some latter-day notoriety as a before-they-were-famous entry on the filmography of a big star: in this instance, Mila Kunis.

As seems to be highly commonplace with direct-to-DVD sequels, American Psycho II: All-American Girl began life as something completely unrelated to Mary Harron's 2000 adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' uber-controversial novel.

Reportedly, the 2002 film was, until very late in the day, an original psychological thriller entitled The Girl Who Wouldn't Die, about a criminology student who takes more than an academic interest in her subject.

However, at the eleventh hour it was decided to shoehorn in an American Psycho connection (the young woman saw Patrick Bateman murder her babysitter when she was a child) to cash in on that film's cult status.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Kunis has long since expressed shame and embarrassment over the film, and publicly spoke out against plans for an American Psycho 3 - which, thankfully, has not come to pass at present.
