10 Movie Showdowns That Totally Sucked

2. The Bride vs. Bill - Kill Bill Volume 2

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NL7nLSSSWjw Don't get me wrong, I love the Kill Bill movies on the whole, yet after the bloodbath that was Volume 1, Quentin Tarantino opted for a more familiar, dialed down approach for Volume 2, more in line with his dialogue-driven films that defined his earlier career. The entire 4-hour saga had been building towards a final showdown between The Bride (Uma Thurman) and Bill (David Carradine), and after an awesome dialogue between the two, it seemed like that epic final battle was going to finally take place. However, it lasts a whopping seventeen seconds, with The Bride executing the famed Five-Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique, a pressure point move which will kill Bill whenever he decides to walk five paces. Sure, he could've spent the rest of his life in a wheelchair and avoided his heart exploding, but he's a man of pride, so when their post-fight conversation ends, Bill decides to go out like a man, walking five paces to his demise. Though I was amused that Tarantino confounded expectations with such a short yet smart fight, I was massively underwhelmed given that we were all hoping for an epic swordfight between the two. Still, there's no way Carradine, who was in his late 60s during filming, would have been able to convincingly keep up with Thurman, so it sort of makes sense really.
