10 Movie Spinoffs Much Better Than The Franchise That Spawned Them

Fox's time at the helm of the X-Men franchise was characterized by peaks and valleys, and by the time Deadpool arrived we were already knee-deep in sequels, spinoffs, reboots and sequels to said reboots. The Merc with a Mouth turned out to be a breath of fresh air in a series that had started stagnating yet again, and was more than happy to poke fun at the movies that had preceded it.

The vast majority of superhero movies tend to follow an established formula, and Deadpool's mere existence was enough to disrupt the status quo as the foul-mouthed, self-aware antihero sliced and diced his way through dozens of goons in increasingly-violent fashion, all the while reveling in his meta approach to the surroundings.

Free from the shackles of the previous movies and the convoluted timeline and raft of interchangeable supporting characters that it involved, Deadpool was encouraged to take as much creative license as possible with the X-Men franchise, and when audiences finally got around to seeing the movie they were left wondering why the studio had been so against the idea of even making it for the better part of a decade.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
