9. Sean Connery Didn't Think Henry Was Integral - Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull

Quickly cementing himself as one of cinema's greatest-ever on-screen fathers, Sean Connery's tremendous work as Henry Jones, Sr. in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade has aged like a fine wine.

It's just a shame this was the first and only time Connery would bounce off of the great Harrison Ford in the franchise. If Stephen Spielberg had it his way, though, the James Bond icon would have actually returned for the divisive fourth entry into the series.

Whilst enjoying his retirement away from the movie business, Connery was approached by the legendary director to reprise the Henry part in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. However, as he noted in a 2007 interview (via THR) before the film's release, the role he was being asked to play in the storyline "was not that generous a part, worth getting back into the harness and go for."

Connery also felt Henry wasn't that important in the story he was being pitched. He even recommended killing Indy's dad off, stating "it would have taken care of it better.”

Sure enough, Spielberg did precisely that, revealing early on in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull that Henry had passed away along with Marcus Brody (Denholm Elliott) sometime after The Last Crusade.
