10 Movie Storylines Actors REFUSED To Do
8. Keanu Reeves Wasn't Feeling The Ship - Speed 2: Cruise Control
The script for the sequel to the classic action thriller Speed didn't exactly convince Keanu Reeves to throw himself back into the part of Officer Jack Traven.
Reeves did stress on The Graham Norton Show a few years after turning down the film that he loved the idea of teaming up with Sandra Bullock again and reprising his Speed role (via CNN). However, he also understandably confessed that the idea of an ocean liner being involved in a movie with the world "Speed" in the title didn't quite feel right to him - hence why he passed on the project.
The star also noted something similar back in 2015, too, telling Jimmy Kimmel (via EW) that, despite loving working with all involved in the first one, his response to Speed 2: Cruise Control's script was, "...a cruise ship is even slower than a bus and I was like, 'I love you guys, but I just can't do it.'"
He even turns down projects like a polite legend, too.
This refusal to accept that storyline actually resulted in Reeves being put in "movie jail." As per GQ, after opting to play Hamlet on the stage instead of hopping onto the cruise ship, Fox didn't hire him for a whole decade before he was eventually cast in the 2008 remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still.
