10 Movie Storylines Actors REFUSED To Do
5. Richard Kiel Didn't Want A Larger Than Life Romance - Moonraker
While on the subject of James Bond actors who put their foot down over a planned 007 storyline, the actor behind one of the franchise's most notable villains once rejected a planned romance.
Before he ended up falling in love with a smaller woman by the name of Dolly in 1979's Moonraker, there was a plan in place for the 7ft 2" Richard Kiel's Jaws to actually end up with an even larger partner.
Why? Because writer Christopher Wood apparently felt it would be a hoot if Jaws fell in love with someone bigger than him, according to Some Kind of Hero: The Remarkable Story of the James Bond Films (via SlashFilm). Hilarious.
Kiel understandably wasn't a fan of the joke, though, and would state that he felt "strongly that what they had in mind wouldn't work for me or the audience."
So, after clashing with producer Albert 'Cubby' Broccoli over the idea, the actor suggested bringing in a smaller partner for the iconic figure instead, and that's precisely what happened in the end as Blanche Ravalec eventually stepped in as Jaws' love interest.
Broccoli even later conceded that Kiel's plan was better than the original storyline and he "was absolutely right."
