10 Movie Supervillains Ruined By Botched CGI

8. The Violator (Spawn)

The Incredible Hulk Abomination
New Line Cinema

Spawn had big problems long before a poorly-rendered digital Violator marred its final act, but there's a special place in hell for CGI baddies this offensive.

When John Leguizamo's villain completed his transformation from evil clown to all-out demonic nightmare, it was supposed to be climactic and the threat level should have shot through the roof. Instead, it showcased the limitations of the FX budget.

The scene begins with unconvincing computerised tentacles shooting from the clown, like something from one of the early Resident Evil games - if they had come out on the Sega Mega Drive - before the ugly metamorphosis really kicks in.

In his final form, the Violator simply had to look fearsome and imposing alongside Michael Jai White's Spawn, but as the film's $40 million budget was seemingly squandered elsewhere, the effects team failed to give him any of those qualities.
