10 Movie Titles With Ridiculous German Translations

German Title: Zwei Glorreiche Haluken

English Translation: Two Glorious Scoundrels

Following the success of For A Fistful Of Dollars (1964) and For A Few Dollars More (1965), the seasoned director, Sergio Leone upped the ante budget wise for the third installment of his Dollar trilogy in which Clint Eastwood absolutely shines in (arguably) his best performance ever as Blondie.

The plot covers everything you would expect from a spaghetti western : bounty hunters, a bank robbery, even a hidden treasure is built into the story which makes it all the more unfortunate that the German title doesn't do any justice to complement the film's legendary status.

For one, the German title translation completely disregards one of the film's main characters by making them two instead of three - as though a certain beauty standard had to be met for them to include him and he was deemed too ugly to make the cut!

To add insult to injury, by labeling the two characters glorious, their characters are already prescribed to the viewer before they even get to see the film. Whether or not they are indeed glorious is debatable just like the notion that they're scoundrels. All in all, we're left with a title that sounds more like a comedy heist film by Shane Black rather than an epic Western about greed and selfishness.
