10 Movie Trailers That Ruled 2014

3. Avengers: Age Of Ultron

This is how you do a movie trailer. Topping one of the biggest and most loved superhero films of all time The Avengers - or Avengers Assemble here in the UK - is always going to be a challenge. Expectations are high not just to deliver something on the level of the first film, but take it to the next level too. Darker, more dramatic and more epic, the trailer for Avengers: Age Of Ultron sets the bar, ensuring those expectations levels will be met, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fk24PuBUUkQ From the moment Ultron appears the promise of a truly iconic supervillain - something the Marvel movies have not always delivered on - is realised. There is a global feel to this movie too. Iron Man in a Tibet-like country. Hawkeye running through some Arctic-looking snowy forest. Utlron, Quicksliver and Scarlet Witch looking out over a devestated wasteland. Even moments like Black Widow clutching Hulk€™s hand suggest a greater depth to storytelling and character arcs in this movie. But then just when the audience is intrigued it shows Iron Man€™s hulkbuster armour go head to head with Hulk himself and it looks marvellous. The extended version of the trailer has the group trying to lift Thor€™s hammer - and Steve Rogers shifting it just a little - proving the Joss Whedon magic is still there too. A trailer to set fanboy excitement alight, yet there was one late-2014 trailer that still beat it...
