Everyone remembers the thrills and excitement of 1999 as the first teaser trailer for Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace sent the internet into a meltdown. Catching their first glimpse of new Star Wars in over a decade and a half, fans went wild, especially when they got to see Darth Maul and his double-bladed lightsaber. Another fifteen years on and the experiences with the prequel trilogy have tempered enthusiasm for Episode VII a little. The first trailer for The Phantom Menace packed a lot in; this time round the first trailer for The Force Awakens is a much lighter affair - and quite possibly a better trailer for it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erLk59H86ww Just as the Jurassic World trailer brought back memories of Jurassic Park, so does The Force Awakens trailer play on fond memories of the original Star Wars trilogy. Stormtroopers, X-Wings, TIE Fighters and the Millennium Falcon itself; fans couldnt help but have a huge smile on their faces as they glimpsed these icons return. But there is also the promise of something fresh and exciting too; John Boyega in a storm trooper outfit; Daisy Ridley looking very much like Princess Leia on the speeder; a new Sith Lord, complete with a very controversial lightsaber. New and old blending together and making fans have hope again for a truly great Star Wars movie. Forget the cynicism over JJ Abrams lens flares and the failures of the prequel trilogy. As soon as the Millennium Falcon blasted onto computer screens, everyone was excited for Star Wars once more!
