10 Movie Trailers That Totally Lied To Audiences

7. Drive

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWX34ShfcsE Here's a trailer that's apparently so deceptive that a woman attempted to sue the distributor for duping audiences into seeing a film that was somewhat different from the one they got. Though I find the idea of suing a distributor for this kind of practise frivolous and stupid - I'd be too embarrassed to say I hadn't done my own research before seeing the film - the woman does sort of have a point; the above trailer isn't the only one that paints Drive as a Fast and Furious-type heist flick that's largely comprised of car chases wrapped around a light crime story. Of course, the film we got in the end was far better than this, but that's not the point; if audiences are told that they're going to see a frantic film with dozens of car chases, then that's what they expect, and that's why their paying their good money for it. If you give them something else, even if it's better, it's not what they want, and really, distributors probably should be held more accountable for how they represent their product. I mean, how many people went to see Drive expecting Ryan Gosling, that sweet guy from The Notebook, to stamp a guy's face into the floor?
