10 Movie Trailers That Totally Lied To Audiences

6. Executive Decision

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ms91m1bCXQ Executive Decision; far from a great film by any stretch, but it had enough action and strong performers to coast by, and surely didn't need any underhanded misrepresentation to sell itself? Apparently not, because this trailer tries the hard sell on the presence of an actor who, at the time (though it's hard to believe now) was one of the big up-and-coming action stars, and whose mere face could definitely get butts in seats. That man, of course, is Steven Seagal, now best known for his bloated, scarcely comprehensible appearances in dreadful straight-to-video movies. Here he milks the good-will he earned from the Under Siege movies, playing a Colonel who is trying to intercept a mid-air terrorist attack, but ends up SPOILER ALERT being killed in the first act of the film, despite trailers making it clear that he would be a man character and probably instrumental in the film's drama. By taking his few scenes and splicing them throughout the trailer, it deceptively gives him an implied presence throughout the film, though on the other hand, it did give us a bit of a shock; how many films can you remember Seagal getting killed in, especially in act one?
