6. Escape From...

The Movie: Snake Plissken, having seemingly run out of places to escape from, finally decides to leave Earth once and for all...for some reason. Is It Happening?: Doubtful. Though the original movie, Escape from New York, was a monster success, the follow-up, Escape from L.A., was a massive box office disappointment, so the idea of returning to this franchise almost two decades later isn't exactly whetting the appetites of studio executives (though there was a 15-year gap between the first two films). Furthermore, Kurt Russell's star power is severely diminished compared to the good 'ol days, so the closest thing we're likely to get is a remake (as was initially planned to star Gerard Butler with Len Wiseman directing, but failed). Likelihood: Neither writer-director John Carpenter nor Russell seems particularly fussed about it. This one's basically dead and buried. 2/10.
