10 Movie Trilogy Conclusions Fans Are Still Desperate To See

1. Hellboy

Fans of comic book movie adaptations have always had a place in their hearts for Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy movies - they might not have raked in money on a level enjoyed by Marvel's big screen outings, but the darker tone and beautifully realised production design put them above much of the competition. Hellboy introduces us to the titular demonic beast (Ron Perlman on top form) who joins up with the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense to take on Nazi occultists. Given a free rein for Hellboy II: The Golden Army, del Toro expanded the universe and upped the ante with the phantasmagoric production design and dazzling action sequences. When can we expect the final instalment? From the outset, Guillermo del Toro designed Hellboy's big screen outing as a trilogy, but with such a large budget required to fulfil his vision and only moderate returns on the first two films it's a project which has been teetering around the edge of - if not quite falling into - development hell. On the issue of funding, del Toro has said, €œThe hard fact is that the movie€™s going to need about $120 million and there€™s nobody knocking down our doors to give it to us,€ going on to suggest that the funding might come if Pacific Rim 2 is a commercial success. There's hope for Hellboy fans, but they might want to refrain from holding their breath just yet. What other trilogies are you eager to see wrapped up? Why not let us know in the comments?
