6. Serkis' Jungle Book Style
It's extremely peculiar that nobody has touched Kipling's Jungle Book since the 1960s yet 2015/16 will see the release of not one but two adaptations of the children's book. This week Andy Serkis who is making his directorial debut on the Warner Bros. version detailed how his vision will be different to the Disney one also currently in production:
"You know, in this case, they couldn't really be further apart. I believe Jon Favreau's Jungle Book is very much honoring the 1968 Disney version, and our one is much closer to Rudyard Kipling - it's a darker teenage coming-of-age story. There's absolutely room for two movies in this case."
We can now expect Warner Bros. story to be a more realistic take on the story of a boy growing up in the jungle and the Disney version to just include the bear-necessities. However, the fact that both movies are live-action means that there will inevitably be similarities.
