3. Alex Garland Has A Cool Idea For 28 Months Later...

Alex Garland is currently experiencing huge success with his latest venture, Ex Machina, which is just about the coolest sci-fi movie to have come along for ages. Reviews have been overwhelming positive, with critics praising the movie for its feminist slant and exploration of artificial intelligent and gender politics, whilst it's also making a mark at the box office. Garland - who started out as the author of cult novel The Beach - also penned the script for the brilliant "zombie" flick 28 Days Later, and served as a producer on its sequel, 28 Weeks Later. Whilst there has been occasional talk of a third film, 28 Months Later, there's never really been anything concrete. Until now. Garland recently opened up with regards to the project, claiming that he has an idea for 28 Months Later. Talking to The Playlist, the author said:
"About two years ago, Danny started collaborating on the potential to make Trainspotting 2, another sequel. In that conversation, an idea for 28 Months arrived. I had a funny idea. I had a sort of weird idea that popped into my head. Partly because of a trip I€™d taken. I had this thought, and I suggested it to Andrew and Danny, but I also said I don€™t want to work on it. I don€™t really want to play a role, and Andrew said, €˜Leave it to me.€™ So he€™s gone off and is working on it."
Fingers crossed it actually goes ahead, then.
