10 Movie & TV Spoilers You Didn't Know Yesterday (Sept 26)

4. Will X-Men: Apocalypse Recast Some Of The Mutants?

In a recent interview with Yahoo!, Simon Kinberg, the producer of X-Men: Apocalypse had some rather interesting things to say in regards to which timeline the next film will follow. With the timeline corrected in Days Of Future Past with the eradication of the Sentinel program, you'd have thought that we'd now return, full focus, to a newly established present day with the original X-Men actors. Well, that's not what's going to happen. In fact, the complete opposite is true, as Kinberg says himself.
In Apocalypse, it will really to be the continuation of the 'past' of Days of Future Past
That's not all though. Because the film will focus (possibly entirely) on the past version of the X-Men in Apocalypse, it means that characters such as Storm, Cyclops and Jean Grey will all need to be recast if they are to appear in the past timeline.
It'd be very hard to do, because Halle, Famke, and Jimmy and others have done such wonderful jobs of bringing those characters to life. But I also would have said before First Class that there would be no actors who can stand alongside Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart.
It's not that the actors can't or won't play their roles anymore, it's the simple fact that they're just too old to play past versions of themselves. As Magneto and Xavier are rather young themselves in the past timeline, the film's crew will need to cast even younger actors to fill the aforementioned mutant parts. That is, if they even appear in Apocalypse at all.
