8. The Raptors - Jurassic Park
Steven Spielberg's action-adventure classic concludes with Alan (Sam Neill), Ellie (Laura Dern), Lex (Ariana Richards), and Tim (Joseph Mazzello) cornered by a pack of raptors.
Just as their number seems to be up, however, their bacon is unexpectedly saved by none other than the park's gigantic T-rex, which immediately attacks and devours the raptors, allowing the heroes to make their hasty escape.
Though it's fair to say that none of the movie's central characters were really equipped to take down "only" a single raptor, this was still a most unexpected bout of deus ex dinosaur. Seriously, how did neither the raptors nor the humans hear Rexy coming from like a mile away?
Despite being one of the most dangerous creatures in the Jurassic Park franchise, Rexy has since been continually presented as an anti-hero of sorts, periodically showing up to dispatch various antagonists and help the humans escape.
