10 Movie Villains Killed By Characters Nobody Expected

6. The Witch-King - The Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The King

Harry Potter
Warner Bros.

The Witch-king of Angmar (Lawrence Makoare) is one of the mightiest foes encountered throughout the Lord of the Rings trilogy, serving as not only the leader of the Nazgûl, but also Sauron's second-in-command.

It's prophecised that the Witch-king will not die at the hand of any man, which on face value seems to suggest that he would inevitably survive The War of the Ring.

The Witch-king makes a pretty compelling argument for this by mortally wounding King Théoden (Bernard Hill) during the battle, only for his niece Éowyn (Miranda Otto), a woman, to take a stand.

After she decapitates the Witch-king's Nazgûl, the Witch-king boasts that no man can kill him.

And yet, with some aid from Merry (Dominic Monaghan) running interference, she's able to drive her sword into his face, killing him - but not before reminding him, "I am no man."

Non-readers be honest - did you ever see that coming?
