10 Movie Villains That Upstaged Other Villains

4. Professor Dolores Umbridge - Harry Potter & The Order Of The Phoenix

From the very beginning, before the events of the Harry Potter movies themselves, Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) was the big bad of the story. The wizarding elitist tried to murder a child, and continued with his quest to kill Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) for a further 17 years and eight films. He was a cruel monster who was supposed to be, and indeed was, hated.

However, that's not to say that Voldemort was the only villain that Harry faced. Alongside the likes of Professor Quirrell (Ian Hart), Bellatrix Lestrange (Helena Bonham Carter), Barty Crouch Jr. (David Tennant), and others, was a woman who was hated arguably more so than any: Imelda Staunton's Professor Dolores Umbridge.

Clad in pink from head to toe, Umbridge was brought in to be the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher when the Ministry of Magic took over Hogwarts. In pushing their agenda of complete and utter denial of Voldemort's return rather than actually trying to prepare the students for it, Dolores became truly hateful.

When first appearing in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, her smug and arrogant attitude, the way she treated and tortured the children, and even the way she spoke ensured that she was universally despised. The fifth movie of the franchise was when Voldemort, the greatest threat of terror the wizarding world had ever seen, made his big return, and yet still he was overshadowed by Dolores Umbridge.
