10 Movie Villains Who Deserved MUCH WORSE

3. Jim Preston - Passengers

Even if there are understandable reasons for why someone does something bad, even if they are a good person outside of one bad decision, even if you could actually feel sympathy for them, it doesn't excuse villainous actions that still deserve consequences.

Such is the case of Chris Pratt's Jim Preston in Passengers, someone who was accidentally woken up 90 years early on what should have been a 120-year trip to another planet and had no way to get back into hibernation. Facing a lifetime of solitude, and after wrestling with the ethics of what he was about to do, he got himself some company.

Jim woke up Aurora Lane (Jennifer Lawrence), knowing full well that he was dooming her to the same fate as him. Yes, his own loneliness must have been crushing, but that didn't give him the right to condemn another perfectly innocent person to the same thing.

In waking up Aurora, he stole her whole life from her and essentially forced her into living her life with him. In what was a bizarre situation almost akin to Stockholm Syndrome, Aurora fell in love with Jim and even forgave him when she found out that he woke her up. She said it herself that it was murder, and instead of punishment, Jim was given love.
