10 Movie Villains Who Died Happy

6. Kakihara - Ichi The Killer

Ichi the Killer's primary antagonist is the sadomasochistic Yakuza enforcer Kakihara (Tadanobu Asano), who dies a fittingly unhinged death at the climax of Takashi Miike's splatterfest.

During the "final battle" with Ichi (Nao Omori), Ichi stabs his bladed boot in Kakihara's forehead, before he falls off a railing to his death. Where's the happiness, you ask?

As Kakihara falls to the ground, he cackles and shouts to his foe, "This is amazing!"

However, when we see Kakihara's corpse at the bottom, there's no wound in his head, implying that he hallucinated the final fight with Ichi and actually killed himself by throwing himself off the roof after realising that Ichi wasn't quite the worthy opponent he believed.

All the same, the guy was in the throes of some serious euphoria on his way down to the ground, that's for sure, even if the details leading up to it might be a little off in his mind.
