The Wrong Move

Trusting Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and drinking from the chalice that he insists will absolutely, positively, pinky swear, grant him an extended lifespan.

Naturally, when Blackbeard (Ian McShane) chugs from the chalice, it's actually the one that takes life rather than gives it, prompting his life force to be consumed by the Fountain of Youth, leaving behind nothing more than a skeleton. Gnarly.

What They Should've Done

A pirate as notorious as Blackbeard should probably know better than to take someone like Sparrow at his word, and if he tells you you've got the life-giving chalice, it's probably a smart idea to drink from the other one instead.

This was a pretty blatant self-own, but also one that could've been easily prevented by just grabbing the other damn chalice.
