10 Movie Villains Who Turned Heroes Evil

7. Cipher

The Fast And The Furious films are already full of moral ambiguity anyway. The guys we're supposed to be rooting for are technically carjackers-come-mercenaries, often acting above and beyond governmental jurisdiction.

But despite some shady shenanigans and questionable means, this lot are generally quite solid forces for good. Something that really binds the misfit group is their collective dedication to each other: they're a family bound by more than blood.

But when ringleader Dom Teretto appears to turn his back on his family and start working for the mysterious cyberterrorist Cipher, it's a gamechanging move.

It turns out Cipher had been running an awful lot of stuff behind the scenes, apparently engineering the bad guys since the very start of the Fast and Furious franchise. She got a lot of sway, in Teretto's case that sway is also known as his old flame Elena Neves and his as yet unknown baby boy.

Dom's loyalties still lay with his family, it turned out, but to keep them safe he was forced into becoming Cipher's handyman. It wasn't until he was able to get word to his team that he was being held under duress to work for Cipher that plans were able to be put in motion to save Dom's son and enable him to turn against his captor.

It's lucky that street racing turned out to have so many transferable skills, because I doubt anyone would be able to handle a hostage situation as smoothly as these guys.
