10 Movie Villains Who Turned Heroes Evil
8. Venom
The general consensus around Spiderman 3 is that it was a mess. The pointless amendment to Uncle Ben's murder alone was enough to ruin the Sam Raimi trilogy's reputation.
It's treatment of Venom, though - that was the real shame. The first film incarnation of Venom was wasted on this film, because it really didn't do the intelligent alien symbiote any justice.
The weird, parasitic goop attaches itself to a human host, taking it over and making it do bad things. This iteration apparently prefers to make its host go a bit emo and dance badly down the street.
But Venom definitely did a lot to damage Spiderman's character during its time in Peter Parker's body. He gets way meaner, making enemies out of Harry Osborne and Eddie Brock (the soon-to-be reincarnated Green Goblin and the new host of Venom respectively, so that really comes back round to haunt him), and he loses MJ's respect and affections.
It's a good thing Parker realised he had a parasite and worked out how to get rid of it when he did, or else Spiderman really wouldn't be able to keep the "friendly" in his title.
