4. Darth Vader - Star Wars Trilogy
Being the most famous and recognisable character in cinema history, Darth Vader was always going to make this list. Before a combination of George Lucas, Jake Lloyd and Hayden Christensen attempted to completely destroy the mythology behind the character, Darth Vader was one of the most compelling and frightening cinematic creations. Luke Skywalker's boyish wholesomeness wasn't half as interesting as the dictatorial ruler of the galaxy. Darth Vader could scare children and adults would still believed he posed significant threat, not an east achievement for a family sci-fi film. Vader was always so imposing. Dressed completely in black and towering at around 7 feet tall, it was impossible not to be awed by the monster. His entrance is one of the best entrances in movie history and from there the character only became more enthralling, whilst Luke became something of a bore. The fact that so much fan-fiction exists for the purpose of developing the Darth Vader story shows how interesting he was to fans of the series and that imperial dictators are infinitely more interesting than farm-boys.
