10 Movie Villains Who Weren't Really Bad

9. Eli - Let The Right One In

This generation, majority of vampires are made out to be having the time of their immortal lifes. But vampirism isn't meant to be a gift, it's a curse, as Eli's in the unfortunate end of discovering. As a child, Eli was turned against her will at the age of 12. Since then, she's had to adapt to the restrictive life of a vampire, unable to walk in sunlight, no entry into a person's home without an invitation and a new found hunger. We are given a perfect example of Eli's horrible survival needs as she's forced to search for food. Pretending that she's injured, she lures an naive samaritan, to which she proceeds to feed on him. We see after the killing blow she starts to cry, feeling regret for killing him and anguish for her supernatural predicament, which shows deep down that this isn't what Eli wants in her life. Many say that Eli's interest in Oskar, is only because of the circumstances with Hakan's failings of procuring blood for her. To some degree that might be true, but that isn't the main reason, as we see throughout the course of the movie. Both Eli and Oskar relate because their both outsiders, yearning to find happiness, friendship, and love, which is absent in their horrible lives. It may be hard to condone what she has to do to survive, but take a moment outside yourself, and be her a little.
