6. Anakin Skywalker - Star Wars (New Trilogy)
Before Anakin arrived at the Jedi Temple to kill the Jedi, he was incredibly conflicted on what he should do to save Padme. The seeds of his eventual descent to the dark side all started with a vision of his mother's suffering, and later her death. This began to develop his fear of losing those close to him, as Yoda said "Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering." It's unforgivable when Anakin decided to betray the Jedi, but at the same time, the reason he did it was very much understandable. Being forced to watch a vision of your love one suffer, with the highest probability of it happening is a horrible thing to endure, and finding out how to stop it would drive anyone crazy. Unfortunately the only person he could turn to was Senator Palpatine/Darth Sidious, who manipulated and used this venerability to control the chosen one. Even though he came from a place of love, his fear corrupted his perception on which way he should take to save her, leading him down the path Yoda warned Anakin about so long ago.
