10 Movie Villains Who Weren't Really Bad

2. The Operative - Serenity

"I believe in something greater than myself, a better world, a world without sin." never have I felt disturbed yet sympathetic to the operative's zealous, single minded faith. It's the operative's belief that the monstrous work, which he admits too, is for the greater good of the universe. And the sad thing about all this, is that we can see this good person who's completely selfless in his philosophy, yet follows a path which contradicts his ultimate goal. Unlike most villains that are attracted to this sort of work, the operative takes no pleasure from those less fortunate to stand in the alliances way, he even sympathizes with the victims, explaining that their deaths are meaningful part on the road to the world without sin. At the end when he discovers the errors of his ways, you can't help but feel sorry for him as the faith he held so strongly onto, has completely abandoned him, leaving him a shell of man.

Aaron Neil Scanlon hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
